How to actually enjoy one
- Go alone. It feels harder and works better; groups close themselves off without meaning to.
- Arrive at the start. The first 30 minutes is when the room is still mixing.
- Set a small goal. Two real conversations makes the night a win.
- Respect the season. The calendar is thick October through April and thin in the deep summer. If it's July and nothing looks good, that's normal; the hiking groups go to 6am starts and the mixers move indoors.
